Side Interests
I fill my time with writing and nature and concert photography. When I get too tired of sitting still, I cook dishes that are way too hard for me, seek out dining experiences that test my palate or pursue relaxing sports like surfing or rock climbing in Joshua Tree -- which, coincidentally, is a great excuse to utilize my photography even more.
Volunteer Experience
Scripps Memorial Hospital, San Diego '02
Volunteer: Nurses and doctors relied on me to assist them in caring for patients' basic needs so as to allow the staff more time in which to focus on the patients' medical needs.
Braille Institute, San Diego '01
Volunteer: As a home skills instructor, I helped teach people with low and no vision how to navigate a kitchen and cook safely, thereby increasing their independence.
Maranatha Chapel, San Diego '96-'98
Counselor: By interacting with high school students in casual programs and activities I was able to relate to them and provide a positive younger adult influence outside of the structured settings of school and home. The rapport we struck was used to help them build the life skills that would lead them toward a well balance adult life.
